They are expected to have substantial knowledge of Austrian constitutional and administrative law, embedded in European and international developments, as well as the willingness to represent this knowledge comprehensively in research and teaching. Especially expected is a focus on comparative public law, including non-European legal systems.The University of Vienna is Austria’s largest university, and the Vienna Juridicum is the largest law school in the German-speaking world. Internationality is of paramount importance at this faculty in both research and teaching. Our researchers have extensive international experience and regularly address international topics. Comparative law is also intensively pursued in all relevant subjects. With its diverse range of foreign-language courses and the “International Law” program, the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna is a popular destination for international students.The tenure-track position is based at the department for Constitutional and Administrative Law, a department with more than 150 years of tradition. The department has produced world-class scholars, including Hans Kelsen, one of the most important legal theorists of the 20th century and the architect of the Austrian Federal Constitution. Today, the department for Constitutional and Administrative Law covers the entire spectrum of Austrian public law, with a focus on fundamental and human rights, economic, medical, migration, and sustainability law, all embedded in European and international developments.
