Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.As a Test Engineer at Hermeus, you will play a pivotal role in developing, building, analyzing and operating test assets for our hypersonic vehicles. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of vehicle subsystems including, but not limited to, hydraulic system, fuel system, mechanisms, high-voltage, airframe structural.ResponsibilitiesLead the design, development, manufacture, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of test assets (including test facilities, fixtures and rigs)Design test fixtures, tooling, adapters, panels, and other supporting hardware for test rigs and test setupsDevelop test plans, procedures, and protocols for a wide range of vehicle subsystemsOperate and troubleshoot a wide array of fluid and mechanical systems including pumps, motors, heat exchangers, high voltage components, test fixtures, tooling, standard fluid system components (valves, regulators, accumulators, tubing, fittings, etc)Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and technicians, to ensure effective communication and alignment on testing requirementsMaintain detailed records of test procedures, results, and findings, and contribute to comprehensive technical reportsIdentify opportunities for process improvement, recommend innovative testing methods, and actively contribute to the enhancement of Hermeus’s test infrastructureBasic RequirementsBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related fieldIndustry experience owning a project through full lifecycle, particularly in an aerospace or high-performance engineering environmentStrong working knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and mechanical designPreferred Skills And ExperienceExcellent problem solving skills and attention to detailsAbility to think of creative, outside-the-box solutions to problemsFamiliarity with a CAD software tool (NX preferred)Strong communication and collaboration abilitiesSelf-motivated and able to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentShould enjoy working on a team and be able to work efficiently and effectively with others, even during stressful situationsU.S. EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE STATUSThe person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
