Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lean Engineer to support our continuous improvement initiatives in a dynamic metal parts machining environment. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles, analyze production processes, identify inefficiencies, and contribute to developing solutions that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a passion for operational excellence and hands-on process improvement in a fast-paced, precision machining environment. Key Responsibilities: Support Lean transformation projects across machining operations, including turning, milling, and grinding processes.

Assist in Value Stream Mapping (VSM), time studies, and process flow analysis. Collect, analyze, and report production data to identify areas of waste and inefficiencies. Participate in and facilitate kaizen events, 5S initiatives, and standard work documentation. Work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Production) to implement continuous improvement activities. Help design visual management tools and implement lean metrics on the shop floor. Assist in training frontline workers and supervisors on Lean tools and methods. Monitor and sustain Lean initiatives post-implementation to ensure long-term impact. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (internship/co-op experience acceptable). Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (e. g. , 5S, Kaizen, Standard Work, Waste Elimination). Familiarity with machining processes and CNC operations is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Willingness to work hands-on in a shop floor environment. Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory)Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Experience with ERP systems or production tracking software. CAD skills or ability to read technical drawings.
