About the role: The Procurement and Logistics Officer is a member of the HQ-based Global Procurement and Logistics team that provides support and guidance to HALO's overseas programmes.
They will be responsible for working with programmes to complete international procurement requests in line with HALO's procurement policy and procedures. They will also be responsible for managing the delivery of goods to programmes. For goods purchased in the UK, this includes working with international freight forwarders to organise and execute programme freight requests in line with the UK's Export Control regulations and Dangerous Goods rules. They will form part of a small HQ-based team and will be expected to work autonomously at times.
There may be a requirement to visit programmes on an irregular basis as part of the role. This will be determined by the Head of the Department in consultation with the programmes. Responsibilities:
Liaise with HALO programmes globally to manage international procurement requests and international freight movements in line with HALO's standard operating proceduresWork with suppliers in the UK and overseas to source quotes, process purchase orders and oversee deliveries direct to HALO programmesBuild and maintain a positive relationship with suppliers to ensure goods and services are provided in a timely and efficient mannerUse IT systems to ensure purchase orders are efficiently processed and trackedCreate shipping documents and liaise with freight agents to manage export of goods from the UKConsolidate and load freight consignments in a manner suitable for shippingWork closely with fellow UK-based employees to provide full support on any logistics/procurement needs they may have in relation to office support, events etcAssist with the management of ISO 9001 requirementsAny other duty as required by your line manager commensurate with the postRequirementsExcellent communication, verbal and written skillsExperience of working effectively as part of a teamAbility to manage workload with competing priorities and frequent interruptions that require urgent attentionCompetent using Microsoft Office and experience using procurement software/inventory management systems/ERPAbility to summarise and present information in a relevant way to different audiencesWillingness to undertake further training as required for professional developmentDesirable:
