Job Description

Company Overview: A well-established and rapidly growing modular construction firm in Alberta is seeking a seasoned Purchasing Manager to lead its procurement efforts. The company specializes in off-site manufacturing and turnkey building solutions, delivering high-quality projects across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, and institutional. Position Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities, vendor negotiations, and supply chain functions. This role ensures materials and equipment are procured on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting production, project delivery, and cost control through efficient purchasing practices. Key Responsibilities: Lead all purchasing activities including sourcing, negotiation, and contract management with suppliers and subcontractors. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials. Collaborate with the production, project management, and design teams to forecast procurement needs. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Analyze market trends and material cost fluctuations to optimize purchasing decisions. Oversee inventory levels and coordinate logistics with warehouse and manufacturing departments.

Review and approve purchase orders and supplier invoices. Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality and service levels. Support budgeting and project cost estimation with accurate material pricing data. Qualifications: 5+ years of purchasing experience, ideally within construction, manufacturing, or modular/off-site environments. Proven ability to lead negotiations and manage supplier performance. Strong understanding of construction materials, modular systems, and building products. Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with procurement software is an asset. Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
