About LAWLegal Action Worldwide is an independent non-profit association comprised of creative human rights lawyers and jurists, united in our belief that those who have experienced human rights violations and international crimes should receive targeted, survivor-centred, gender-competent and trauma-informed support to access the justice they deserve.  LAW’s team operates on the ground in conflict-affected contexts combining national and international expertise with a deep understanding of victim and survivor needs and wishes. We work directly with survivors and their communities, building their capacity to meaningfully engage with justice and advocacy processes. Alongside this, we provide technical assistance to strengthen justice institutions to ensure they are equipped to deliver the justice that survivors need, and work with legislators to promote accountability and the rule of law.  Across 18 countries, and in collaboration with survivors, their communities and national justice actors, LAW undertakes creative accountability strategies, including strategic litigation at national, regional and international levels. LAW’s vision ‘A world where all victims and survivors have access to justice, so that impunity is not a barrier to sustainable peace’.  The PositionLAW recognises the importance of mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in promoting a safe, healthy, and productive environment for its staff and/or beneficiaries. We are seeking a creative and experienced practitioner in response to our growing teams to further strengthen the psychosocial support by engaging with individual and collective mental wellbeing through prevention, and support initiatives.You will join our consultancy roster and will be engaged as and when required in promoting resilience and self-care, utilising compassionate techniques such as art therapy etc to help staff express and manage challenges. This role involves raising awareness and providing toolkits for mental health across our and programmes to staff and clients.More about this positionWhere? Flexible, can be based remotely or in person or travel may be required depending on assignment. Supporting teams in Geneva, Kyiv, New York, Beirut, Damascus, Chiang Mai, Dhaka, Cox’s Bazar, Nairobi, Mogadishu, Juba, Sudan and Khartoum.Contract: 12 months framework agreement, renewable subject to performance and funding.Days: To reflect the assignment upon agreement.What will you do?The Psychologist Will Deliver The Following DeliverablesConduct psychosocial assessments and provide confidential psychosocial support and counselling to individuals or groups, in person or remotely as and when required. Design and deliver psychosocial first aid training to groups. Facilitate debriefing and clinical support measures both prior or post missions to conflict countries focusing on stress management, resilience and coping mechanisms and mental health awareness. First point of call for support crisis response initiatives e.g. in the event of a critical incident. Collaborate with HR and senior management to ensure holistic support including a crisis. To build staff or community resilience through psychosocial education and stress management strategies. Identify and refer individuals or groups needing specialising mental health support and care. Develop and implement wellbeing activities and awareness campaigns e.g, workshops, mindfulness sessions, and wellbeing days. About YouMasters degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or relevant fields. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in providing therapy and mental health and psychosocial support or counselling in an International NGO is preferred. Demonstrated experience working in volatile or conflict affected environment, responding to gender sensitive, humanitarian, development, or community-based contexts. Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), trauma-informed care, or stress management is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and other native languages is strongly preferred. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards. Strong facilitation skills to customise and tailor interventions to the needs of different individuals and groups.
