Job PurposeThe HR Manager is responsible for leading the full scope of Human Resource functions, including recruitment, performance management, policy development, employee relations, training and development, and fostering a positive, accountable culture. This role ensures the company attracts, retains, and develops high-performing individuals aligned with Tona Coffee’s values and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities🔹 Talent Acquisition & OnboardingLead recruitment for all departments based on clear KPIs and role expectationsDevelop and execute onboarding plans that accelerate new hire integrationBuild talent pipelines and maintain relationships with potential candidates🔹 Performance & CultureDesign and implement performance appraisal systems (quarterly check-ins, scorecards)Coach managers on setting goals and providing effective feedbackFoster a culture of high-performance, ownership, and collaboration🔹 HR Systems & PolicyDevelop, maintain, and enforce HR policies in line with labor laws and best practicesMaintain up-to-date employee records, contracts, and attendanceOversee compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards🔹 Employee Engagement & DevelopmentDesign and lead employee training, wellness, and capacity-building programsManage employee relations and resolve conflicts professionallyEnsure internal communications are clear, transparent, and motivational🔹 Strategic HR LeadershipAdvise CEO and leadership team on organizational structure and HR strategySupport change management during hiring, restructuring, or scalingPrepare HR reports and dashboards for executive reviewKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Time-to-fill open positionsEmployee retention and satisfaction rate100% completion of quarterly performance reviewsPolicy compliance and audit readinessImplementation of training & development programsQualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related fieldMinimum 3–5 years experience in HR (FMCG or fast-growing SMEs preferred)Knowledge of Ethiopian labor laws and HR best practicesStrong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skillsAbility to work independently, prioritize, and handle multiple demandsFluency in Amharic and English (spoken and written)
