As we embark on a major expansion project with $13 million in federal funding, enhancing our tourism offering and attracting a wider visitor base is crucial for our long-term growth and financial self-sufficiency.The OpportunityWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Tourism Development Officer to volunteer their expertise in shaping DRR's tourism strategy and market presence. This is a crucial strategic role for someone with a strong understanding of the tourism industry, excellent analytical and communication skills, and a passion for heritage experiences. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing visitor engagement strategies, and helping to position DRR as a must-visit destination in Tasmania's North-West.Key Responsibilities & DutiesResearch and identify new tourism trends, market opportunities, and potential partnerships for DRR.Assist in developing and refining new tourism products, experiences, and visitor offerings (e.g., special events, tour packages).Contribute to marketing strategies aimed at attracting diverse visitor segments (local, interstate, international).Analyse visitor data and market feedback to inform tourism development decisions.Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team, Events Manager, and Board on tourism-related initiatives.Engage with local tourism bodies, industry partners, and government agencies as appropriate.Adhere strictly to all DRR policies and strategic guidelines.Contribute to a positive and professional public image for DRR.Anticipated Impact & Why Volunteer with Us: Your contribution as a Tourism Development Officer is absolutely vital to the Don River Railway. All successful applicants undergo a National Police Certificate check and a Working with Vulnerable People Check (Registration to Work with Vulnerable People in Tasmania). All costs for these checks are covered by DRR.
