Tower Hill School is seeking an organized, energetic, and experienced Theater Teacher to inspire and engage young learners through dynamic and creative theater instruction. The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator with a strong background in both theater and early education. This individual will lead theater experiences, direct plays and musicals, and provide their expertise and support to lower school gatherings and learning opportunities while fostering a love for the arts in students. This is a full-time, benefitted, 10-month position to start in August 2025.
Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement an engaging theater curriculum for lower school studentsTeach Tower Tots through Fourth Grade theater Possibility to teach an upper school elective depending on area of expertise and experiencePrepare students for grade level performances with a focus on process over product, ensuring students are learning while rehearsingServe as theater director for lower school productions, collaborating with designated faculty when appropriate and coordinating with faculty and studentsServe as choreographer of the school musicalOrganize and oversee costumes and props for two upper school productionsProvide creative direction and support for performances, assemblies, special events, and classroom activitiesFoster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and creativityCollaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to integrate theater into the broader curriculumMaintain and care for theater resources, props, and performance spacesAssist with student supervision and chaperoning outside the classroomParticipate in department collaborations, faculty meetings, in service days, and assume lunch and dismissal duties Complete skill based progress reports twice/yearQualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Theater, Education, or a related fieldProven experience teaching elementary theater in a school settingStrong interpersonal and collaborative skillsExperience in creating and teaching choreography to students of all agesExcellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skillsCommitment to inclusive theater practices and teaching with a knowledge of multicultural theater traditionsExperience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus communityPassion for inspiring young actors and fostering a lifelong appreciation for theaterSensitivity to the developmental stages and well-being of children Commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of studentsTower Hill School is a coeducational private school for age 3 through Grade 12, dedicated to living our motto Multa Bene Facta — Many Things Done Well.
