This role is essential for providing consistent and safe electrical power to trains, enabling efficient and uninterrupted service. The technician is committed to upholding industry standards and safety protocols, contributing to the overall performance and sustainability of the rail transportation system. Through expert technical skills and proactive maintenance, the technician plays a vital role in enhancing the reliability and efficiency of rail operations.This position is safety sensitive and subject to Valley Metro RPTA's Drug & Alcohol Program. EducationMinimum Qualifications & RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDExperienceTwo (2) years of experience in electrical inspections, maintenance and repair or successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for electricians.Directly related experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.Must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime and odd and unusual hours; may be called in on day-off to respond to emergencies.Desired QualificationsExperience in overhead lines and cables and/or high voltage substationsExperience with electrified systems (AC and DC systems)Medical ExaminationEmployment is contingent upon passing a DOT physical examination.Background InvestigationEmployment is contingent upon the results of a background check.Drug TestingEmployment is contingent on passing pre-employment drug screen.Licenses And CertificationsValid Arizona Driver's License and a safe driving record.Incumbent is required to have a Class B CDL permit prior to attending New Employee Orientation and obtain a full Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within 90 days of hire. Incumbents may be subjected to risk of electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noise levels.
