Location: Lago di Garda.Start: Anytime.Contract: Internship.About The City School of EnglishWe are seeking motivated university graduates with no prior ELT experience to join our structured internship. This program combines practical classroom experience with internationally recognized qualifications, providing a clear path to becoming a fully qualified ESL teacher.The City School of English is a small, independent language centre in Italy offering a personal, community-focused approach to learning. Following the growth of its online programme to over 100 students, the school is opening physical locations and seeks junior English teachers.Each school typically operates with one or two classrooms, creating an intimate environment where teachers know every learner and lessons can be closely tailored to individual goals. The school’s aim is to help residents, seasonal workers, and visitors use English with confidence—whether in local hospitality, international workplaces, or everyday life around the lake.Traineeship Program OverviewMonth 1: Complete a 40-hour online TEFL course and begin observing lessons. Maintain reflection logs to understand lesson structures and classroom dynamics.Month 2: Continue observation and start assisting with small in-class tasks (drills, guided exercises).Month 3: Begin micro-teaching short segments (5–10 minutes) under mentor supervision.Month 4: Lead longer micro-lessons (15–20 minutes) and observe full lessons. Receive structured feedback.Month 5: Prepare for TKT Modules 1–3 with self-study and seminars; sit exams; integrate concepts into classroom practice.Month 6: Begin independent teaching of full lessons with mentor observation and feedback. Refine lesson planning, classroom management, and learner support skills.Month 7+: Enroll in CELTA (full-time or part-time) to complete the internationally recognised Cambridge qualification and return to teach independently as a certified ESL teacher.Month 12: Become part of our contract teaching team.RequirementsC1 English level,A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree related to languages, literature, or culture.An interest in becoming an ESL teacher.Italian speaking.What We OfferReceive initial TEFL training (fully paid by the school). This includes a short TEFL course and the Cambridge TKT certificates.Step-by-step mentoring by experienced CELTA-qualified teachers.Integration of theory and practice in real classrooms.Opportunity to earn CELTA certification as part of your development (partially paid by the school).Initially, this is an unpaid position. Your training, the lessons alonside a senior teacher, and your supervised lessons, are unpaid hours. When you start providing your lessons without supervision (approx. after six months) you will receive an hourly internship compensation.
