EU nationals eligible for our traineeship programmeGrant The trainee grant is €1,170 per month plus an accommodation allowance (see further information section)Working time Full timePlace of work Frankfurt am Main, GermanyClosing date 12.11.2025Your teamYou will be part of either the Human Resources (HR) Analytics team in the Directorate General Human Resources or the Analytics and Research team in the Directorate General Communications, depending on your interests and skill set. These two teams provide data science and analytics services to support the ECB’s mission. The HR Analytics team contributes to HR policy by using data and evidence to shape HR strategy and optimise the impact of HR policies on working conditions, well-being and performance. The Analytics and Research team supports strategic communication by monitoring the impact of the ECB’s communication activities, such as publications, events and board member interviews and speeches, as well as the ECB’s digital and social media channels.In your role as a data science trainee, you will be part of a close-knit team of six to ten members of staff responsible for delivering analytics and reports, developing innovative tools and methodologies and generating insights to support strategic decision-making. You will work closely with experienced data scientists and analysts, as well as key stakeholders within your Directorate General and across the ECB.The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.Qualifications, Experience And SkillsEssential:a bachelor’s degree or higher in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, human resources management, business administration, economics, social and organisational psychology, business information systems, business analytics, political science, engineering or another relevant field;knowledge of a statistical programming language;experience in data processing, data visualisation and quantitative data analysis;a good knowledge of the MS Office package;an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages .Desired:skills in R, Python and/or SQL;experience with Tableau, Power BI, natural language processing and/or big data technologies;experience in analytics for HR, communications or other business areas.You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people’s diverse perspectives.
