Transit Director -West Africa

Roles & ResponsibiitiesDefine and develop the most appropriate transport strategy to meet service demands;Ensure the completion of all administrative formalities;Ensure compliance with financial management and administrative rules, and oversee the management of the company’s major budgets;Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements;Develop a comprehensive procedure detailing the various standard operations to be carried out for the proper receipt of cargo, while avoiding potential additional costs related to extended port or anchorage stays;Oversee customs formalities and the issuance of various certificates and attestations;Guarantee the smooth execution of the Group’s import and export operations;Supervise the entire process of international freight forwarding (import & export) for the Group.QualifiicationAcademic Level: Master’s degree (Bac +5) in Transport and Logistics, Economics, or International Trade, or from a Business School with a specialization in Foreign Trade;Professional Experience: Approximately 10 years of overall experience in freight forwarding or customs operations, including at least 5 years in a similar managerial position;Minimum Age: 35 years;Additional Training and/or Qualifications: Relevant certifications or specialized training in logistics, supply chain management, or customs procedures would be an asset.Technical SkillsStrong command of transport-related legislation, particularly in customs, insurance, and international trade law;In-depth knowledge of import and export procedures, including customs documentation;Solid understanding of transport companies and logistics networks;Expertise in supply chain management;Good understanding of warehousing procedures;Full mastery of Incoterms;Proficiency in specialized logistics and freight management software;Professional fluency in English is essential due to frequent interactions with international clients; proficiency in an additional language is an advantage.PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, train, and motivate a team;Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to effectively manage relationships with partners;Effective communication abilities to coordinate projects and foster teamwork;Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and files simultaneously at different stages of completion;Outstanding analytical and synthesis abilities to interpret data, adjust strategies, and optimize all aspects of transit and shipping operations;High level of rigor and attention to detail, with a constant focus on cost and time constraints.Achyutam International is a leading Recruitment Agency for Jobs in Africa, Middle East and Asia, both for Expatriates and for Local professionals.
