Our client is seeking an experienced Contracts & Commercial Manager to oversee all contractual and commercial aspects of major construction projects. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute contract management strategies aligned with organizational goals to ensure efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation. Lead the negotiation and finalization of commercial and contractual terms with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Ensure comprehensive commercial oversight of construction projects, including monitoring resource productivity and maximizing profitability. Manage timely submission of variations, payment applications, and contractual claims, in full compliance with contract terms.
Oversee project financial controls, including budgeting, cost tracking, CTC (Cost to Complete), CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation), and earned value analysis. Administer all aspects of subcontract management, including contract finalization, progress tracking, and performance evaluation. Conduct detailed risk assessments on contracts to identify potential liabilities and implement effective mitigation strategies. Monitor contract compliance and performance through audits and reviews, ensuring adherence to agreed terms and legal obligations. Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on contract performance, financials, and key metrics to senior management. Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure accurate understanding and implementation of all contractual obligations across departments.
Manage and resolve disputes arising from contractual interpretations, leveraging strong negotiation and mediation skills. Stay abreast of industry standards, legal changes, and regulatory updates to ensure ongoing contract compliance and minimize legal exposure. Train and mentor junior staff in best practices for contract and commercial management, promoting a high-performance and compliance-driven culture. Maintain organized and up-to-date contract documentation and correspondence for audit readiness and historical reference. Candidate Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum 15 years of experience in contracts and commercial management, with a strong background in the construction industry.
MRICS certification and deep familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions. Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale contracts and negotiations simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively. High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
