OverviewThe Program Manager, Keep Girls Dreaming will oversee the daily operations of the Keep Girls Dreaming initiative, located in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya. This role includes the management of program activities that emphasize menstrual health, child protection, life skills for young girls, caregiver engagement, and livelihoods initiatives. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the program is implemented effectively and safely, adhering to the established targets, standards and timelines. Additionally, the Program Manager will collaborate with field staff, partners, community leaders, and other stakeholders, providing regular updates to senior management.
The Program Manager will report directly to the USCRI Kenya Program Coordinator in Nairobi.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize and oversee program activities in the camp, which include life skills sessions for girls’ menstrual health education, support and training for caregivers, child protection referrals and follow-up;Develop, implement and enhance programmatic documents, including training manuals, standard operating procedures and workshop curricula, as required;Supervise and assist the program team, ensuring defined roles, accountability, and consistent execution;Ensure that all activities are conducted safely and adhere to established safeguarding protocols;Monitor progress in relation to the workplan and promptly address any delays or challenges;Lead coordination meetings with staff, volunteers, and essential community stakeholders;Cultivate relationships with community leaders, foster families, local authorities and service providers;Prepare clear and timely narrative and financial reports detailing activities, challenges and lessons learned;Gather feedback from beneficiaries and other stakeholders to enhance program quality;Serve as a representative of USCRI’s presence in Kakuma and Turkana County;Ensure confidentiality, dignity, and respect in all interactions with beneficiaries; andFulfill any other duties related to USCRI’s programs or operations in Kakuma, as determined by the USCRI Kenya Country Director and/or Program Coordinator.

RequirementsA bachelor’s degree in social work, Community Development, Gender Studies, Education, or a related field (a master’s degree is considered an advantage); A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing or coordinating community-based programs, Experience in a refugee setting, ideally in Kakuma or similar environments; and Previous experience in managing teams, budgets and work plans.
Skills and CompetenciesExcellent coordination, planning, and problem-solving abilities; Comprehensive understanding of the needs of adolescent girls, menstrual health, caregiver engagement and child protection in displacement settings;Capability to collaborate with diverse teams, partners and community stakeholders;Strong written and verbal communication skills; Familiarity with basic digital tools (e. g. , MS Word, Excel, Outlook); andCompetency in documenting activities, tracking progress, and composing reports.
