SummaryThis position is located in the Recreation Centers, Liberty/Deployed Forces Support Branch, Community Activities Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, U. S. Naval Air Station, Sigonella, Italy. The Recreation Centers are intended to provide a comprehensive social recreation environment and snack bar operation. The primary purpose of the position is to assist in the general operations of the recreation center, event planning, administration and promotion of the facility. Duties Help Supervises facility at all times ensuring proper use of recreation equipment, answering patrons' questions, issuing recreation equipment and conducting scheduled and impromptu activities and programs.
Activities include, but are not limited to, billiards, foosball, ping pong, board and table games, Nintendo Play Station, internet usage, movie program, holiday theme activities, games, contests, tournaments, etc. Ensures that current regulations are adhered to in accordance with established practices and local policies. Conducts accurate sign-ups for ITT and Liberty trips, ensuring patrons receive all necessary information. Sells golf tickets and conducts accurate registration for community events. Monitors the internet service program and ensures proper use of equipment and appropriate documentation.
Is responsible for diligent and accurate documentation of facility usage, such as hourly patron counts, movie attendance, etc. Distributes promotional material regarding MWR activities, programs and services. Maintains bulletin boards, signage, decorations, etc. Is responsible for the proper operation of a snack bar of minimal items (hot dogs, nachos, beverages) ensuring proper preparation of menu items. Ensures bar is cleaned and maintained in accordance with health and sanitation regulations. Provides quality food and customer service. Sells resale items associated with the activity. Operates a cash register, receives payments and makes change.
Prepares Daily Activity Report (DAR) to account for sales at the end of each shift. Maintains a change fund. Ensures that adequate stock levels are maintained, requisitions merchandise and conducts periodic inventory. Responsible for facility cleanliness both inside and out. This involves, but it is not limited to, sweeping, mopping, trash pick-up, vacuuming, dusting, wiping counters and tabletops, etc. Responsible for minor maintenance of equipment to ensure that all items are available, clean and operating properly and safely. Advises supervisor of discrepancies that cannot be repaired in-house.
Performs general clerical duties related to the operation of the facility, such as typing, copying, filing, etc. Occasionally may be required to drive a 14-passenger van. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employmentMinimum age is 18 years old and out of high school. Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation. Must pass a pre-employment physical examination. Work schedule is subject to change and may include working mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.
Will be required to obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR/First Aid/AED certification, Customer Service Training and MWR Food and Beverage Alcohol Safety Certification, within the first 90 days of employment. Position may involve long periods of standing, walking, occasional driving, active games and lifting up to 40 pounds.
