Prof. Dr. Sabine Glasl-Tazreiter) in the Division of Pharmacognosy at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is looking for a university assistant (PhD) who is dedicated to identifying and characterising bioactive natural produts in order to further develop them as candidates for the discovery of new drugs.Our research encompasses modern analytical and chromatographic approaches in combination with traditional medicine, chemoinformatics and modern data anlysis for the targeted identification and isolation of bioactive metabolites from complex mixtures.The candidate will use analytical and chromatographic techniques in combination with the analysis and interpredation of data sets to specifically isolate and structurally characterise bioactive compounds. He/she will investigate the natural products in relevant test models in order to pharmacologically characterise the isolated natural products.Your Future TasksWe expect successful application to actively participate in research and teaching and to provide support in administrative matters. This involves the following activities:Carrying out projects in the field of natural product research (focus on data anlysis and phytochemistry).Production of extracts and fractions.Dereplication and application of chemometrics (e.g. molecular networks).Isolating and structurally characterising bioactive natural products.Testing extracts, fractions and isolates in various tests.Data analysis, interpredation and report writing.Collaborating on joint projects.Assisting in the writing of publications and project proposals.Assisting in administration and teaching.This Is Part Of Your PersonalityYou have a master's degree or equivalent qualification in pharmacy, chemistry or a similar subject.You have a keen interest in phytochemistry and the discovery of new natural substances.You are open-minded and willing to learn new technology.You are goal-oriented and motivated to strive for scientific excellence.You have experience in analytical and chromatographic techniques (a must).You have basic botanical knowledge (recognition of plants in the field, knowledge of morphology and anatomy) and are proficient in handling large data sets (a plus).Experience in teaching (e.g. tutorials) and also experience in administation tasks (a plus).You have very good written and spoken English skills (a must).You have good written and spoken German skills (a plus).What We OfferThe employment relationships initially limited to 1,5 years, but is automatically extendet to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-renewal declaration. The position is classified in accordance with the collective agreement:48 VwGr b1 Grundstufe (praedoc), whereby relevant professional experience is decisive for classification in a specific salary group.
