Job Description

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals. Med-Medicine The Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology is seeking a Research Technician to support the Scleroderma Center. The laboratory’s focus is on mechanisms of pulmonary and dermal fibrosis in systemic sclerosis, with a focus on translational research, fibroblast and macrophage regulation, and single-cell studies.

This individual will support in vivo murine studies for two investigators and perform a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments. Duties will include overseeing animal protocols and murine colonies, assisting with murine procedures, collecting tissue samples, and performing laboratory techniques such as RT-qPCR, DNA and RNA extraction, cell culture, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. Prior experience with murine research is preferred. The technician will assist with data analysis, protocol development, and figure generation for manuscripts. Essential Functions Conduct in vivo research using mouse models, including handling, administering treatments, performing surgical procedures, and collecting biological samples, following approved protocols.

Perform laboratory-based research techniques, including but not limited to molecular biology, cell culture, and histology. Strong basic mathematical skills including dilutions, ratios, molarity etc. Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records/experimental documentation, and working collaboratively with other laboratory members to support the overall goals of the laboratory required. Physical Effort Light to Medium physical effort required. Must be able to stand for animal procedures/handling and bench work. May require lifting light laboratory materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs).
