Job Description

The Laboratory of Immunoregulation in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Research Technician I position to join its multi-disciplinary research team. Under direct supervision, the technician will assist in various research projects to understand molecular mechanisms of innate immunity and treatment of infectious diseases, auto-immune disorders, and cancer. The position will require rodent animal handling and occasional flexible work hours to meet the demands of the experimental protocols and processing timelines.

ResponsibilitiesPrepares experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelinesSets up and operates standard laboratory equipmentMaintains laboratory environment in orderly, operable conditionHandles and disposes of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocolsPrepares chemical solutions under the direction of experienced technical staffAssists in rodent animal handling such as weighing, treatments, and tissue collection and processingStocks, maintains and order laboratory supplies as neededMaintains accurate records of procedures used to conduct basic experimentsPerforms routine analysis and provides basic interpretationsLearns basic laboratory safety and under the direction of USC Safety Office complete training for laboratory requirements (such as blood borne pathogens, biosafety, and radiation as needed)Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

This is a gift-funded position. Hourly RangeThe hourly rate range for this position is $21. 61 - $27. 76. Minimum Education: High school or equivalent, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience:

0-12 months, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience Minimum Field of Expertise: Ability to follow detailed instructions, oral and written Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in biological sciences or related field Experience with cell biology laboratory techniques is desired Experience with general laboratory equipment is required Excellent organizational skills and time management skills Previous animal handling experience in research field is preferred
