Who We AreBy joining our project, you will be working on an initiative of the European Commission focused on creating a more efficient, modern and secure customs environment within the European Union. Being part of this initiative set on a 5 years’ timeline, you will have the opportunity to work on topics such as digitalization of customs processes, streamlining customs procedures to facilitate trade and reduce costs, harmonization of customs rules across all EU member states and combating fraud.This purposeful project will not only give you the opportunity to have an impact on one of the key topics within the European Union, it will also offer you various professional opportunities, let you experience a collaborative environment, using cutting-edge technologies and experiencing diversity in your everyday professional life.What You'll Be DoingDesign and deploy comprehensive Linux infrastructure solutions.Integrate Linux systems with VMware technologies (e.g., ESXi, vCenter, vSphere).Develop architectural blueprints and lead infrastructure projects.Ensure scalability, performance, and security in all infrastructure designs.Oversee the optimization and administration of Linux servers.Ensure system availability, performance, and security.Implement automation tools and scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) for efficient operations.Define and enforce security policies and best practices.Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.Develop and maintain DR and business continuity plans.Test and validate backup and recovery processes regularly.Work closely with IT and business teams to align infrastructure with strategic goals.Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members.Promote continuous improvement and innovation.Maintain detailed documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.Report regularly to senior management on infrastructure status and progress.What You'll Bring AlongBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.Minimum 10 years of experience in Linux infrastructure management, with a focus on architecture and design.Strong experience with Linux/ UNIX operating systems.Proficiency in VMware virtualization technologies.Skilled in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.Experience with LAN/WAN/MAN network design and implementation.Familiarity with routers, switches, load balancers, and security components.Ability to develop strategic infrastructure plans.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Awareness of emerging technologies and their business impact.Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.Experience with firewalls, encryption, and security tools.Ability to perform audits and vulnerability assessments.Proven leadership and team management capabilities.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent.Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
