VP of Engineering (Advanced Materials Scale-up)Reporting To: CEOSector: Sustainable Advanced Materials & Specialty ChemicalsCompensation: $150k – $200k Base + Performance Bonus + Stock OptionsThe OpportunityOur client is a high-growth, venture-backed innovator in the bio-based materials sector, specializing in high-performance nanocrystal additives. Following a successful lead investment in their current funding round, they are poised to break ground on a state-of-the-art commercial manufacturing facility.We are seeking a VP of Engineering to lead this transition from demonstration-scale to global commercial output. This is a "foundational" executive role responsible for engineering design, facility construction, and the operational ramp-up of a first-of-its-kind production plant.The MandateFacility Launch: Lead the end-to-end setup of a new manufacturing plant, including equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and full-scale commercial launch.Operational Excellence: Oversee daily technical activities at the existing demonstration site while ensuring the new facility meets world-class standards for output, quality, and EH&S.Team Leadership: Act as the senior architect of the engineering organization; recruiting and mentoring a high-performance team of process engineers and floor technicians.Process Innovation: Optimize manufacturing processes for sustainable nanocrystal additives to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure rigorous quality control.Executive Strategy: Work alongside the CEO to develop capital expenditure (CapEx) plans, technology roadmaps, and strategic reporting.The ProfileScale-Up Expertise: 10+ years of engineering leadership, specifically in scaling advanced materials, specialty chemicals, or nanomaterials from pilot to commercial stages.Build Experience: A proven track record of launching new production facilities (Greenfield projects) in sectors like pulp & paper, polymers, packaging, or specialty additives.Technical Pedigree: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Process Engineering (Advanced degree preferred).Strategic Agility: Experience managing multi-million dollar CapEx budgets and navigating the complexities of investor-backed growth.Exact location for the new facility still to be determined.We look forward to your application.
