Role Summary: We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Vice President of Sales to lead the growth of our business across the U. S. retail landscape. This executive will be responsible for driving top-line revenue by expanding our footprint across key retail channels—including big box, club, grocery, and independent retailers. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in consumer packaged goods (CPG), a proven track record of building and managing high-performing sales teams, and the ability to cultivate strong relationships with major national and regional retail buyers.
This is a critical leadership role that will shape and execute our sales strategy, accelerate customer acquisition, and strengthen long-term retail partnerships to drive sustainable growth. This is a remote position, and the candidate must be willing to travel, have an entrepreneural mindset, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and expect to deliver results quickly. Responsibilities: Develop and execute a national retail sales strategy to drive growth across big box, club, grocery, and independent pet retail channels. Lead, coach, and scale a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, execution, and results.
Own and expand relationships with key national and regional retailers—both current accounts and new business targets. Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with strategic retail partners, securing incremental distribution and shelf space. Negotiate favorable terms and trade programs that drive volume while preserving profitability. Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and finance to align promotional strategies, demand planning, and customer support. Use data, category insights, and market trends to inform account strategies, optimize pricing, and identify whitespace opportunities. Establish clear KPIs and performance dashboards to track sales pipeline, account health, and team performance.
Represent the company at key industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to build visibility and strengthen relationships. Qualifications: 10+ years of progressive sales experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing national accounts. Proven success driving double-digit sales growth in brick-and-mortar retail channels—preferably within the pet industry. (pet treats, pet food, or adjacent categories) Deep understanding of U. S. retail dynamics, including big box, club, grocery, pet specialty, and independent pet channels. Demonstrated ability to open new national accounts, expand existing relationships, and secure premium placement and distribution.
Strong leadership skills with experience building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing sales teams. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills—able to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
