This is a high-impact executive role with a clear path to Chief Operating Officer (COO) as the company scales. The ideal candidate is an ambitious operational leader ready to take on increasing responsibility and eventually oversee all operational aspects of the business as we grow.This executive role will be responsible for driving operational excellence, scaling our infrastructure to support rapid growth, and ensuring seamless delivery of our SaaS platform to construction teams ranging from 5 to 1,000 members. The ideal candidate combines deep operational expertise with a passion for technology, a thorough understanding of SaaS business models, and the strategic vision to step into a COO role.Career Progression PathThis position is designed as a stepping stone to Chief Operating Officer. As you demonstrate success in scaling operations and driving business growth, you will:Year 1: Establish operational excellence across customer success, support, and implementation; build high-performing teams; implement scalable processes and systemsYear 2-3: Expand scope to include additional operational areas such as revenue operations, business development operations, and strategic partnerships; take on increasing P&L responsibilityPath to COO: Assume full operational leadership across all business functions including sales operations, marketing operations, finance operations, and overall company operations as we scale to the next phase of growthThe successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and executive team to prepare for this progression, with clear milestones and metrics for advancement to the COO role.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipPartner with executive leadership to develop and execute operational strategies that align with company growth objectives and customer success goalsBuild and scale operational processes, systems, and infrastructure to support the company's expansion while maintaining service excellenceLead cross-functional initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product deliveryEstablish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to drive continuous improvementDevelop strategic roadmap for operational scalability from current state to $10M+ ARR and beyondOperational ExcellenceOversee customer success, technical support, implementation, and onboarding operations to ensure exceptional customer experiencesDesign and implement scalable processes for customer acquisition, onboarding, and retentionOptimize platform performance, reliability, and uptime to meet SLA commitmentsDrive operational efficiency across departments through process improvement and automation initiativesBuild frameworks and infrastructure that can scaleTeam Leadership & DevelopmentBuild, lead, and mentor high-performing operational teams including customer success, technical support, implementation specialists, and operations managersFoster a culture of accountability, innovation, and solutionPartner with engineering and product teams to prioritize operational enhancements and system improvementsImplement and maintain tools and systems that support operational efficiency and data-driven decision makingEnsure security, compliance, and data protection standards are met across all operational processesFinancial Management & Business OperationsDevelop and manage operational budgets across all departments under your purviewIdentify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining service qualityProvide regular reporting on operational performance, financial metrics, and strategic initiatives to executive leadershipBuild business cases and ROI models for operational investments and initiativesProgressively take on P&L ownership and broader business operations responsibilitiesRevenue Operations (Progressive Responsibility)Collaborate with sales to optimize the customer acquisition and conversion funnelImplement revenue operations best practices and systems to support growthDevelop pricing and packaging strategies in partnership with product and finance teamsPrepare to assume full revenue operations leadership as part of COO progressionRequired Qualifications10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior operations role at a SaaS or technology companyProven track record of scaling operations in a high-growth environment (50+ person organization)Strong understanding of SaaS business models, metrics, and operational best practicesExperience building and leading customer success, support, and implementation teamsDemonstrated ability to develop and execute operational strategies that drive business growthTrack record of career progression and readiness for C-suite responsibilityExperience scaling operations through significant growth phases (2-3x revenue growth)Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing and developing cross-functional teamsData-driven decision maker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills with executive presenceBachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred)Preferred QualificationsExperience in the construction technology, project management software, or field services industryBackground in B2B SaaS companies serving SMB and mid-market customersPrevious experience as VP Operations with demonstrated readiness for COO roleFamiliarity with construction workflows, safety compliance, and project management methodologiesExperience with operational tools such as HubSpot, Stripe, Jira, or similar platformsTrack record of implementing process improvements that resulted in measurable efficiency gainsExperience managing P&L responsibility for operational unitsBoard presentation experience and strategic planning capabilitiesExperience working in a company through a significant funding round or
