Job Title: Vice President, Portfolio Operations – FinanceLocation: Remote — Preference for candidates based in the Southeastern U.S.Travel: ~30% to portfolio company sites and firm meetingsCompensation: Competitive base salary + performance bonus + equity participationAbout the FirmOur client is a founder-focused private equity firm currently managing 4 portfolio companies with an active acquisition pipeline. The firm is focused on building value through disciplined operating improvements, strong financial management, and professionalizing founder-led businesses.As the platform continues to scale, the firm is expanding the value-creation team with a finance-focused leader who can roll up their sleeves while helping build a scalable operating model across future add-on acquisitions.Position OverviewThe Vice President, Portfolio Operations – Finance will be a hands-on operating partner to the firm’s portfolio company CFOs and finance teams. This individual will drive financial rigor, improve operational performance, and support integration and standardization priorities across the portfolio.The ideal candidate began their career in Big 4 audit, has Transaction Advisory (TAS / FDD) experience, and has served as a CFO in a private equity-backed company for at least 2 years. This role requires someone who is comfortable getting deep into the weeds while also contributing to high-level value-creation strategy.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership: Strengthen financial reporting, forecasting, and control environments across portfolio companiesValue-Creation Execution: Partner with CEOs and CFOs to drive performance improvement, cash flow optimization, and operational disciplineM&A Support: Lead finance workstreams for add-ons including diligence, modeling, deal execution, and post-close integrationInfrastructure Buildout: Help establish scalable finance playbooks, standardized KPIs, dashboards, close cadence, and working-capital processesWorking-Side-by-Side with Founders: Coach leadership teams transitioning from entrepreneurial to institutional operating modelsBoard-Level Contributions: Provide insights, updates, and strategic recommendations alongside investment partnersTalent Assessment: Evaluate and influence financial leadership capabilities, recommending upgrades where neededHands-On Execution: Step in directly where finance functions require temporary leadership or capability gapsQualificationsRequired: Began career in Big 4 auditRequired: Experience in Transaction Advisory / Financial Due DiligenceRequired: Served as CFO in a PE-backed company for 2+ years with measurable value-creation outcomesStrong financial modeling, operational finance, and FP&A capabilitiesExperience supporting founder-led companies strongly preferredAbility to drive execution in unstructured environments with limited resourcesBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred; MBA a plus
