Job Description

Are you a super talented and creative Video Producer & Photographer looking to join an expanding team and take on your next big career step? Here at Pic, we’re a growing agency with big plans, and with big plans we need an ever bigger team. Video is an integral part of our offering (after all, it’s the Pic to our PR) and we’re looking for someone who can produce quality work for a broad range of clients across multiple sectors all over the UK – and occasionally in Europe.Ideally, you’d have 3+ years’ experience in a similar role, a good understanding of agency life (preferably having worked in a video/marketing/PR agency before) as well as having a solid good understanding of modern day comms (video, PR, social and how they can work together). You'll need to be well organised (there’s a lot to bear in mind), personable (we put great stock in all getting on as a team), and creative (it’s the fun bit of what we do). Applicants should be comfortable working with others (a pretty essential part of being in a team), be able to write a story (think visually as opposed to churning out War and Peace of an afternoon), creatively shoot and manage post production, as well as liaise with clients throughout the production process.Managing client feedback is important if we’re to produce good work that’s right for them – so being able to deal with that is crucial. If you fling your hands in the air and kick over the desk at the merest hint of criticism, you might struggle. So what’ll you be doing day-to-day?Day-to-day tasks will include:Liaising with retained clients. You’ll need to know what they want if you’re to bring it to life.Storyboarding and scripting (and you’ll need to guide clients through these).Organising shoots, managing logistics and briefing the senior team on your plans.Understanding briefs and interpreting them into a video communication plan for clients.Selecting suitable music and using it effectively in an edit.Working with Adobe After Effects occasionally (Don’t need to be a wizard at motion graphics - but a basic understanding would be good). Experimenting with new techniques and editing styles (this is where the creativity comes in).Making creative decisions based on briefs (more creativity)Desired Skills and Experience3+ years experience in a video production agency or similar. The confidence to self shoot (that’s self shoot, not take selfies).Experience in photography, with a passion for framing, composition and creativity when capturing images, but also being able to capture imagery at busy events on the fly. An extensive video editing knowledge, preferably in Da Vinci Resolve, but Premiere Pro is acceptable as well.Experience working with the Sony A7 series or similar (that’s Sony A7, not Audi A7).Good knowledge in Adobe After Effects. You don’t need to be able to do Star Wars level CGI, but knowing the basics will help. Able to look for creative ways to tell a story using interviews, props, graphics, and other techniques (hell, even interpretive dance if you fancy it).The ability to take direction and recognise client needs.Ability to have eyes across multiple projects at the same time.Scripting and interviewing skills. The ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours and travel (including nights, the odd weekend and holidays).Creative thinker. An interest in PR/Marketing in general.Polished and professional appearance (we’re not expecting a bowler hat and an umbrella tucked under one arm, but we do expect you to brush your teeth at least).Good presentation skills.Ability to work well in a team (we’ve worked hard to create a great atmosphere, so could do without Ronaldo-esque prima donnas).Calmness under pressure and ability to achieve tight deadlines. Woosah, etc etc.A real passion for digital comms and sales (OK, passion might be pushing it, but ‘keen interest’ will do).Positive attitude. Whilst we love a bit of self-deprecation, please, no misery guts; we’re an upbeat bunch!Fun and friendly demeanour *rolls eyes in fun and friendly way*.Finally…a good sense of humour (or at least the ability to politely laugh along to our *hysterical* jokes).Interested? Then fire across your CV, covering letter (or suitably eye-catching alternative) and showreel to picme@picpr.com, putting ‘Video Producer & Photographer’ in the subject header.
