Role Description/CriteriaHoly Family is an integral part of the faith community of Mt Waverley. Holy Family is governed under the authority of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (MACS). MACS is the employer of employees at Holy Family School.The Visual/Media Arts Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering a vibrant, engaging and developmentally appropriate Visual/Media Arts program for students across the primary years. The role fosters creativity, imagination, and artistic expression while developing students’ skills, knowledge and appreciation of art in a variety of forms and media.The Visual/Media Arts Teacher contributes to the broader learning community by promoting the arts as a means of personal expression, cultural understanding and community connection, in alignment with the school’s vision and values.This position is for Wednesday and Thursday (2 days).Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and LearningPlan, implement and evaluate a high-quality Visual Arts program aligned with the Victorian Curriculum (The Arts – Visual/Media Arts) and informed by Catholic values.Encourage creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving through a variety of media, materials and techniques (e.g. drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, digital art).Integrate elements of faith, reflection and stewardship of creation within art experiences where appropriate.Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating art space that celebrates student effort and achievement.Differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs and interests of all students.Assess and report on student learning progress in line with school policy.Curriculum and Program DevelopmentDevelop and review the Visual Arts curriculum to ensure alignment with whole-school learning priorities and contemporary practice.Curate and display student artworks in classrooms, shared spaces, and school events, celebrating creativity as a form of community expression.Support school liturgical, cultural and community celebrations through visual arts contributions (e.g. displays, symbols, backdrops, creative projects).Manage art resources, materials and budgets effectively and responsibly.Collaboration and CommunityWork collaboratively with classroom teachers and specialist colleagues to enhance integrated learning opportunities.Build positive relationships with students, families and staff that reflect respect, care and the Gospel values.Contribute to whole-school events, assemblies and community gatherings that strengthen the school’s Catholic culture.Professional PracticeDemonstrate a commitment to the mission and ethos of Catholic education.Engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance teaching practice and stay current with developments in art education and pedagogy.Participate actively in staff meetings, professional learning teams, and school improvement initiatives.Comply with all school and MACS (or relevant diocesan) policies, including Child Safety and Occupational Health and Safety.Key Selection CriteriaAccreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (or willingness to obtain).Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).Demonstrated experience and expertise in teaching Visual/Media Arts in a primary school context.Capacity to design and implement engaging and inclusive art programs that reflect Catholic values and principles.Strong classroom management, communication and organisational skills.Commitment to working collaboratively and contributing positively to a faith-filled school community.Please email your resume and cover letter to jdavid@hfmw.catholic.edu.auNote: MACS is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all children in our care.
