Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Director of Communications, the Visual Media Specialist is responsible for capturing high-quality video and photographic content that highlights the city’s character, milestones, and community life. This role documents city events, public meetings, and programs while producing creative content for marketing, storytelling, and archival purposes. Established in 2022, the city is experiencing rapid growth and development, making this position critical to visually preserving its evolving identity and sharing its story with residents, businesses, and visitors.Essential Duties And Responsibilities Document city events, public meetings, and activities through photography and videography Capture headshots and portraits of city employees for official use Produce editorial and marketing videos that showcase the city’s services, departments, and community initiatives Create visually compelling content that captures the city’s essence and promotes its growth and development over time Plan, shoot, and edit video and photographic projects for various city departments to support public information and outreach efforts Manage and maintain all video and photography equipment; ensure proper care, storage, and inventory tracking Edit footage and images using Adobe Creative Suite to produce polished, professional-quality content Collaborate with the Communications Department and other city departments to develop creative concepts and storytelling approaches High understanding of Digital Asset Management (DAM) to organize and archive digital assets to ensure easy retrieval for future use An understanding of live streaming, podcasting, video resolutions, codecs, bitrates, and compression best practices Stay current on industry trends and recommend new technologies or methods to enhance content quality and engagementAdditional Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerform related duties as required.
