About The RoleWe are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team based in East Tamaki, Auckland. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, this role plays a key part in supporting month-end processes, maintaining the fixed asset register, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with GST returns. You’ll also provide master data support and collaborate across finance functions including Accounts Payable and Receivable. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who is looking to grow in a dynamic FMCG environment.
What You Own And DeliverAssist with month-end closing, including expense accruals, bank reconciliations, and depreciation processing. Prepare and follow up on balance sheet reconciliations for the Group and follow up outstanding itemsDaily bank reconciliations and processing of related journals, any missed or unprocessed AP/AR items are communicated with the team. Review payment batches processed by AP team for supplier/GST/Tax/Sundry payments and ensure compliance with delegation authority. Assist the Financial Accountant to process and file the monthly indirect taxes to IRD and the ATO on behalf of the Vitaco Group.
Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation. Support GST return preparation and filing for NZ and AU entities. Contribute to master data management and continuous improvement initiatives. Uphold Vitaco’s Vision and Values in all activities. About YouDegree qualified in Accounting. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a medium/large commercial environment. Exposure to general accounting tasks, ideally within FMCG. Progress toward CA/CPA qualification is preferred. Great attention to detail and accuracyDeadline and results focused Strong technical and problem-solving skills. Effective time management and prioritisation. Collaborative and service-oriented mindset. Team player who works at pace.
Strong Excel skills and exposure to Navision or other ERP system will constitute an advantageExposure to a multi-currency and trans-tasman environment will also be an advantage.
