Senior VMWare / Infrastructure Engineer • Contract duration: 8 + 12 + 12 months • Location of work: Canberra / Onsite • Application closing date: Monday, 27 October 2025• Security Clearance: NV1 • Estimated start date: Monday, 10 November 2025Our federal government client, the Department of Home Affairs (HA) is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to implement, manage and retire the VMWare virtualisation infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and vessel infrastructure) that supports digital platform services.Selection Criteria:1) VMware Infrastructure Expertise – Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, Horizon, vCenter) across complex networks, with VMware certification preferred.2) Systems Design and Documentation – Strong capability in developing technical designs, as-built documentation, SOPs, and risk management plans aligned with enterprise and security standards.3) Infrastructure and Availability Management – Demonstrated ability to manage system availability, capacity, and disaster recovery, applying ITIL or service management practices.4) Problem and Incident Resolution – Skilled in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing infrastructure issues, and improving system reliability and performance.5) Security and Compliance – Solid understanding of security controls, compliance requirements, and operational practices in classified or government environments.6) Leadership and Collaboration – Proven ability to mentor others, work collaboratively across teams, and manage competing priorities in project and BAU contexts.
