Company DescriptionHere at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring sustainable urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. In 2011 we carried out the first-ever crewed flight of a fully electric multicopter and have since conducted more than 2,000 public and private test flights across the world (www. volocopter. com).
Job DescriptionAs Aircraft Vibrations Engineer you will be leading the analysis, testing, and mitigation of vibration across our innovative eVTOL aircraft and its systems. This is a critical role to ensure structural integrity, passenger comfort, system reliability and regulatory compliance. Your mission during this flight: Define aircraft, system, and component-level vibration and mechanical shock requirements in alignment with certification, industry standards, and performance goals. Ensure validation of the requirements and define applicable verification methods and procedures for compliance demonstration. Develop and execute test plans for laboratory, ground, and flight vibration testing, including equipment qualification testing.
Work with cross-functional teams to develop aircraft and system-level solutions to meet vibration requirements while supporting the program on cost, schedule, weight, and other critical design parameters. Process and interpret data from flight tests, ground and laboratory tests to validate models, identify anomalies, and guide design improvements. Perform and validate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulations for systems and system components, including life calculations based on high-cycle fatigue. Interface with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure vibration control is accounted for in structural and system component design.
Prepare, deliver, and review documentation contributing towards aircraft certification and Safety of Flight. QualificationsCheck in your professional skills: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a vibrations, structural dynamics engineer or similar position in the aerospace industry (rotorcraft is preferred). Demonstrated proficiency with FEA tools (e. g. , NASTRAN) and vibration analysis software (e. g. MATLAB). Hands-on experience with modal testing, shaker tables, and accelerometer/instrumentation setup. Familiarity with CS-23/25/27/29, vibration-related requirements, and guidance material.
Very good knowledge and practical experience in the qualification of airborne equipment to vibration requirements in line with RTCA DO-160 test methods and procedures or equivalent industry standards. Good understanding of all technical aspects related to aircraft systems, aircraft flight physics, and data signal processing for vibrations. Self-starter with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills. Excellent writing and speaking skills in English.
