The RoleWe’re looking for an experienced Lead Engineer with a strong backend background to lead our cross-functional engineering team (8 people: 5 backend, 3 frontend). You’ll own the technical vision, guide architecture decisions, and ensure we deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software that powers thousands of customer interactions every day. This is a leadership and architecture-first role — you’ll still stay close enough to the code to guide technical direction, but your main focus will be on leading people and shaping the product.

You will be the direct manager for the engineering team — they will report to you (not the CTO) — and you will be responsible for performance reviews, career growth, and team development. What You’ll DoLead and mentor a cross-functional team of backend and frontend engineers in a fully remote setup. Serve as the direct manager for your team, handling performance reviews, feedback sessions, and growth plans. Own the technical strategy and architecture for our core platform, with a primary focus on backend systems. Collaborate closely with Product and Design to turn ideas into impactful features.

Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, architecture reviews, and best practices for testing and delivery. Ensure our Spring Boot backend and Angular frontend evolve to meet scalability, security, and performance needs. Remove blockers, improve processes, and keep delivery aligned with business priorities. Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. What We’re Looking ForProven experience as a Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager in a SaaS/product environment. Strong backend expertise, ideally with Java/Spring Boot. Experience building distributed systems and REST APIs. Solid understanding of frontend development (Angular experience is a plus, but backend is key).

Track record of leading remote engineering teams and delivering high-impact projects. Proven experience managing people, including performance reviews and professional development. Excellent communication and decision-making skills. A product mindset — you care about solving real user problems, not just writing code.
