About the RoleWe are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Vice President, Lending and Borrowing to lead Equiton’s borrowing, lending and treasury strategy in a complex and growing investment environment. This role will be responsible for developing and executing debt strategies, overseeing loan administration, managing lender relationships, and ensuring effective capital deployment across the enterprise. As a senior leader, you will play a critical role in optimizing the firm’s capital structure, supporting fund growth, and aligning financing strategies with Equiton’s broader business objectives.*This role can be based out of our Burlington or Toronto office.Key ResponsibilitiesCapital Strategy & PlanningLead the firm’s borrowing and lending strategy, aligning capital structure and financing activities with Equiton’s investment and growth objectives.Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute long-term capital planning across funds and corporate entities.Provide strategic insight to the CFO and Investment teams on liquidity, debt structures, and funding strategies to optimize capital deployment.Borrowing & Lending OperationsOversee loan administration and support due diligence on lending arrangements, including Development Fund financing and deal structuring.Manage and expand relationships with banks and financial institutions to secure financing and support ongoing treasury needs.Liquidity, Cash & Treasury StrategyDirect enterprise-wide cash and liquidity management, ensuring adequate working capital while optimizing efficiency and mitigating risk.Own and drive Equiton’s treasury strategy, aligning cash management, liquidity, funding, and capital structure with enterprise objectives.Develop and implement short- and long-term funding strategies for Equiton’s investment vehicles, including REITs and separate accounts.Deliver cash flow and capital trend analyses, defining key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive more informed decision-making, including the use of hedging strategies and derivatives to manage interest rate and currency risk.Governance, Risk & InfrastructureCollaborate with Finance, Operations, and Technology to enhance treasury infrastructure and ensure scalability with business growth.Monitor currency exposures and implement appropriate risk management strategies.Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and external regulatory standards.What You Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA, CFA, or CTP designation strongly preferred.10+ years of progressive experience leading borrowing and lending strategies, with a track record in debt structuring, loan administration, and lender engagement.Leadership experience within alternative asset management, private funds, or institutional investment environments; real estate or REIT experience a strong asset.Direct experience working with Schedule A banks and other financial institutions, negotiating and managing complex financing arrangements.Proven ability to optimize capital structures across multi-entity, multi-product environments (e.g., open/closed-end funds, JVs, REITs).Strong knowledge of liquidity planning, treasury and cash management best practices to support efficient capital deployment.Demonstrated success building scalable financial infrastructure, processes, and controls in a high-growth environment.Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with meticulous attention to detail.Knowledge of fund structures, capital accounts, and investor flows; exposure to FX and international financing strategies is an asset.Predictive Index AssessmentsAs part of our hiring process, candidates complete two short assessments from Predictive Index:A Behavioural Assessment (5–10 minutes, untimed) to understand your work and communication style.A Cognitive Assessment (12-minute timed) to measure learning and problem-solving abilities.These are not tests of intelligence or experience, they simply help us understand how you work best.👉 Start the Behavioural Assessment here: https://assessment.predictiveindex.com/bo/3S57/VPLendingandBorrowingAfter completing the first assessment, you’ll receive an email with instructions for the second assessment.About UsFounded in 2015, Equiton is one of Canada’s fastest-growing private equity firms, helping Canadians build wealth through high-quality real estate investments.
