As a Program Specialist 2, you’ll play a key role in helping Washington State University fulfill its commitment to transparency and legal compliance. In This Role, You WillBe the first point of contact for public records requests—you’ll receive, log, review, and process records in accordance with state law.

Use your analytical skills to determine what information can be disclosed, and apply redactions or withhold records when necessary. Draft clear, professional correspondence and maintain accurate records and files. Work with a university-wide online portal to collect and release records from departments across the WSU system. Collaborate closely with the Public Records Manager and consult with the Attorney General’s Office when needed. Communicate regularly with faculty, staff, and administrators across the WSU community via email, phone, and video conferencing.

Manage complex, high-volume requests that require a strong understanding of public records laws, WSU’s organizational structure, and enterprise systems. You’ll thrive in this position if you enjoy working independently while also being part of a collaborative team. Your attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility will help you succeed as you navigate complex records and legal requirements. You’ll be comfortable using a variety of software tools and eager to learn new systems that support your work.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of on-site work in Pullman, Washington and remote work.

The specific schedule will be determined in collaboration with the hiring manager and may be adjusted based on business needs. Additional InformationThis is a full time (100% FTE), project position. This position is overtime eligible. Project End Date: This is a project position expected to end on June 30, 2026. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Monthly Salary: $3,752 to $5,011 | Range 42 (Steps A - M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49. 58. 110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
