Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Under the routine supervision of the Water Distribution Crew Leader, performs general maintenance on water distribution system including: repairing and/or installing mains, services and meter settings. Requires some judgment in applying well-established procedures and methods performing routine maintenance of equipment and water distribution systems.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesInstalls and maintains services, meter settings, valves, fittings and fire hydrants.Excavates and backfills ditches to gain access to water services.Installs new water mains.Fabricates new taps and replaces old customer water lines.Maintains vehicle, equipment and tools in efficient and clean working order.Substitutes for Equipment Operator or Crew Leader as required.Operates sawing equipment and dump truck as required.Builds concrete meter vaults.Performs routine maintenance on pumps and tapping equipment.Collects water samples and chlorine levels.Issues boil water advisories.Adhere to all governmental safety codes and company standards. Completes all training in a timely manner.This role requires a thirty-minute response time.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. First-Aid/CPR certification required. Knowledge of cutting and welding, and basic knowledge of water distribution mechanics. Respirator release required. State Certification in Class IV Water Distribution desired.ExperienceOne to two years experience in heavy manual labor.
