It focuses on modernizing water management systems using smart IT solutions and strengthening institutional capacity, including promoting gender inclusion in service delivery.Role SummaryThe Water Metering Design Engineer will serve as the Bulk Metering Technical Lead, responsible for the design and technical oversight of bulk flow metering installations. This includes leading the design process for metering packages, guiding contractors during implementation, and ensuring successful integration of meters into the telemetry system.Key ResponsibilitiesReview initial field survey results and lead the design of bulk metering installations (Packages 2-2 and 2-3).Determine appropriate meter sizes, pressure ratings, and types (e.g., electromagnetic, ultrasonic) based on site-specific conditions and water quality.Design preliminary installation configurations including piping layouts, valve arrangements, and meter chambers.Prepare standard installation drawings, technical specifications, and bidding documents for procurement.Respond to technical queries from bidders and evaluate proposals for compliance during procurement.Conduct periodic site visits to supervise critical installations and resolve technical issues.Validate and approve contractor-proposed design modifications based on actual site conditions.Oversee calibration and commissioning of installed meters, ensuring accurate readings and proper integration into the telemetry system.Coordinate closely with the Telemetry Specialist to ensure seamless data transmission and system compatibility.Support the documentation of installed meters, including specifications, GPS-tagged locations, and maintenance protocols for long-term asset management.QualificationsMaster’s degree in engineering, information technology (IT), or a related field.Preferably 10 years of international experience in water metering design and implementation.Strong understanding of bulk metering technologies and installation practices.Experience in projects funded by multilateral development banks (e.g., ADB, AIIB, EBRD, World Bank) preferred.Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Russian is considered an asset.Regional experience in Uzbekistan or Central Asia is an advantage.Contract TypeFixed-term consultancy (duration aligned with project timeline)Reasonable Adjustments We are committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all candidates.
