In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.Job DescriptionAs a Welder you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include:Safety, Health, and EnvironmentAdhere to all health and safety practices and requirements.Promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment."Exemplify" all relevant safety standards and procedures as a positive example for learners to follow and prioritise in their work practices.Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.Performance and DeliveryEquipment ControlEnsure effective plant equipment and related machinery maintenance to ensure optimal utilisation and availability toward maximising production and throughput schedules.Identify and report defects, equipment failures and time required to repair the Supervisor to enable applicable decision-making, action planning and problem resolution.Maintenance Efficiency:Support plant personnel by ensuring that the necessary plant and equipment maintenance preparations and maintenance tasks are done following SMP (Standard Maintenance Practice) to improve work practices and operational targets.Ensure installations, commissioning of infrastructure and post-installation work testing for functionality are executed following specifications to meet deadlines and budget requirements.Continuously monitor maintenance progress and related preparation activities against planned schedules to meet operational targets, minimise downtime, enable timely reporting and enhance plant efficiency.Assistance:Assist the supervisor and co-workers according to their level/area of competence and follow company policies when instructed or during the responsible person's absence to ensure the achievement of functional objectives.People Development:Identify and utilise on-the-job learning opportunities to achieve the required competency levels stipulated in training modules, according to budget and timeframe requirements.Ensure accurate and understandable information, provide regular feedback, and monitor progress to develop and equip learners/team members with the necessary competencies.This role is in Engineering & Maintenance HME/Plant (ENG) department on a band J4 level reporting to the Engineering SupervisorQualificationsGrade 12 Certificate / N3 TechnicalTrade Certificate as a WelderSA Drivers LicenceTechnical Knowledge2 Years’ operational experience as a WelderSafety standardsMining equipment and machinesWelding techniques and methodologiesCompany Policies and ProceduresLock-out proceduresAdditional InformationWho We AreWe aim to lead the industry by pursuing ever safer and more responsible ways of working, demonstrating integrity and showing care and respect for people and the planet, that means we are constantly seeking new opportunities to mine and process our products sustainably, using less water, less energy and more precise extraction technologies.What We OfferWhen you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
