DescriptionJob Title: Asst Para - TitlePosition Function: Under the direct supervision of the certified classroom teacher with instruction of basic academic skills to students and performs tasks as identified by Kansas State Department of Education, the Wichita Public Schools, and the curriculum established at the site.
Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesAssists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning conceptsProvides a safe and healthful environment for students and staffDirects activities designed to reinforce concepts for individuals or small groupsAssists students with individual assignmentsWorks with teachers to modify activities to meet individual student's needsAssists teachers in collecting data and maintaining records regarding student performanceAssists in the maintenance of learning centers and instructional materialsAcquires a minimum of 20 in-service hours annuallyAfter 3 years, a minimum of 10 in-service hours are requiredAdditional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor. This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine.
