About The RoleUW Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to join their team. This role plays a critical part in managing operational details related to clinical departmental funding processes and effort reporting. Under the guidance of the Director of Planning and Analysis, the Business Analyst will be responsible for developing and managing financial tracking systems, generating detailed reports, and providing analytical insights to support decision-making across UW Medicine’s clinical departments.
The position involves overseeing the implementation and management of the Mission Advance faculty effort-tracking system and delivering regular, comprehensive reports to departments and executive leadership. This role requires an individual who can work independently, navigate complex data environments, and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including clinical departments, medical center staff, and IT teams. The Business Analyst will operate within a fast-paced, evolving environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field.
Minimum of three years’ experience in financial analysis and project management. Strong data mining and analytical skills, with experience working with large datasets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Alteryx. Knowledge of relational databases, scripting languages, and SQL Server (including Analysis Services). Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing deadlines. High level of professionalism, integrity, and ownership of work products.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain financial tracking systems and reports to support clinical programs and initiatives. Provide comprehensive financial analyses and insights to aid decision-making processes. Create and optimize reporting processes to facilitate continuous improvement. Develop and maintain clinical activity dashboards using Tableau. Conduct quality assurance reviews of programmatic reports and departmental submissions. Manage the operational aspects of the clinical departmental funding database, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Assist departments with CFTE and Total Effort reporting, providing guidance and support. Prepare and present trending reports and analyses related to departmental funding and effort reporting.
Collaborate with clinical departments, IT teams, and finance staff during budget cycles and system implementations. Generate reports for internal stakeholders, including the Clinical Practice Solutions Center and UW Medicine leadership.
