The role has reporting responsibility to the Finance Manager in Brunei and is a full-time role that will be 100% office-based in our Kuala Belait location. The RoleThe Senior Project Accountant ensures all accounting entries within the individual’s area of control (i. e. project, contract, service line) are recorded in an accurate and timely manner.
This involves the provision of timely reporting of financial data internally to business stakeholders and externally to the client. Furthermore, financial reporting will extend to forecasts, budgets and a “no surprises” outlook, together with ad-hoc financial analysis. This may require the management of a small team of accountants, and this role is appropriate for larger, more significant projects, contracts or service lines. Our Client and ProjectThis role forms a key part of the project team for the BSP EPC for Brownfield projects, which has a project value of approximately BND 600m.
The contract duration is initially for five years, but with the option of a further extension. ResponsibilitiesManagement of all accounting entries to ensure they are prepared accurately and in line with corporate deadlinesManagement of invoices to ensure they are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with the commercial terms of the contractEnsure results are accurately reported and analysedEffective management of the accounting teamCalculation of billing and cost rates, and analysis of margins to manage profitabilityPreparation and management of annual plan and quarterly reforecast in conjunction with Business Management and Finance team Responsibility for compliance with Financial management Framework within the individual’s sphere of control Focus on cash collection, optimisation of DSO and minimisation of unbilled items together with ensuring these balance sheet areas are appropriately reconciled, analysed and controlledLiaising with external, internal and client auditorsLinkage with business manager and contracts administrator regarding any contractual aspectsExecution of various ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as and when requireQualificationsFurther education through College or University with a recognised accounting qualification Preferably working towards CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent Knowledge, Skills And ExperienceMinimum of five years project accounting experience Proficient user of Excel People supervision and management skills Good commercial knowledge Good systems experience (e.
