Workshop Manager (Model Making)

Vacancy for: Faculty of Design, Product Design Main Responsibilities:Organization, operation, and further development of the model making workshopProfessional guidance and consultation for students and faculty in design projectsInstruction and training in manufacturing techniques (wood, plastics, digital fabrication technologies)Ensuring occupational safety, compliance with workshop regulations, and training of usersPlanning, procurement, and management of materials and operating resourcesMaintenance, servicing, and repair of machines, tools, and digital fabrication systemsCoordination of workshop use and support in integrating it into teaching activitiesResponsibilities and Competencies:Management and oversight of workshop operationsResponsibility for safety, order, and availability of equipmentSupervisory authority over student assistants and workshop users within operationsDecision-making authority regarding material procurement, usage quotas, and technical processesRequirements:Several years of practical experience in model making, prototyping, and workshop managementFormal vocational training in woodworking and/or plastics processingAlternatively a University degree in design, architecture, engineering, or a comparable qualificationIn-depth knowledge of traditional manufacturing methods as well as modern CAD/CAM and rapid prototyping technologiesMachine Operation Certificate T1 (certification for operating workshop machinery)Knowledge of occupational safety, accident prevention, and workshop organizationPedagogical and didactic skills in instructing studentsStrong communication and teamwork skills, organizational competence, and initiativeProficient in EnglishWe Offer:A modern, well-equipped workshop with advanced tools and digital fabrication technologiesThe opportunity to shape and develop the workshop in close collaboration with faculty and studentsAn inspiring, international, and creative academic environmentOpportunities for professional growth and further trainingEmployment at a dynamic and growing university
