WSP Oman is currently seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee construction activities on the Sohar Port Project. The successful candidate will act as the client’s on-site representative and will be responsible for ensuring that the contractor’s work is carried out in compliance with contract specifications, approved designs, and applicable standards and regulations.
""ResponsibilitiesAct as the primary on-site representative for WSP, overseeing the day-to-day construction activities. Supervise and monitor contractor performance, ensuring quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to the project schedule. Review and approve contractor submissions including method statements, shop drawings, and material approvals. Coordinate with stakeholders including the client, contractors, local authorities, and utility providers. Conduct regular site inspections and lead construction progress meetings. Ensure the project is executed in line with contractual obligations and industry best practices. Provide technical guidance and support to site engineers, inspectors, and other project staff.
Identify and manage risks, resolving issues as they arise to minimize impact on project delivery. Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, inspection logs, and correspondence. Monitor and report on the overall progress of the works, providing updates to senior management and the client. Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards are maintained throughout all project phases. Support the implementation of quality assurance and control systems. QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction supervision, including experience as a Resident Engineer on port or large-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of civil and marine engineering works, including dredging, quay walls, utilities, and infrastructure development. Proven experience in contract administration, site coordination, and quality management. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Fluency in English (Arabic is an advantage). Experience working in Oman or the GCC region is preferred. Membership in a recognized professional engineering body is an advantage. Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
