Job Description

Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, our client seeks a Senior Project Engineer, you will support the Project Delivery Manager in the successful planning, engineering, and execution of a Gold Project in East Africa. Based in Perth, this role provides engineering oversight, coordination of contractors and consultants, and project controls support to ensure that project milestones are achieved on time, on budget, and in accordance with safety and quality expectations.

On offer is an initial 12 month fixed term contract, as other projects come on board there could be the potential for this to extendManagement of Safety, Environment, & Community RelationsProvide safety leadership to the project with a strong focus on the standards, quality, critical risk management and process safety. Assist in coordinating project support from other site areas including health & safety, site maintenance, site services, electrical, etc.

Project and Construction ManagementAct as the interface between the Project Director and contractorsAssist the Project Director in developing and maintaining overall project schedules, budgets and target deliverablesMonitor quality of output by ensuring it is aligned with the needs of the projectEnsuring project milestones are achieved within approved schedules and approved budgetParticipate in plant commissioning activitiesEnsure that all projects are managed on time and adequately resourcedTechnical ManagementReview and act upon any technical queries which may be raised through the project execution phaseHelp provide construction and constructability technical support to site-based staffProvide support in bids, tenders, presentations and other project related activitiesReview specifications, offer input, negotiate and coordinate the construction and management of site variation and design changesProject Controls and CoordinationAssist in development and tracking of project schedules, budgets, and forecastsCoordinate inputs to project reporting, progress claims, and contractor performanceContribute to contract and procurement scopes, evaluation processes, and recommendationsReview of contractor tenders & contract managementSite InterfaceUndertake site visits to assess progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure alignment with Perth-based planning.

Collaborate with site teams during early works, construction, and commissioning preparation.

Support alignment between head office and field execution strategiesEssentialExperience in project development (preferably gold)Strong report writing skills and previous exposure to project controls arena would be a distinct advantageSubstantial experience in overseeing contract packagesExperience in overseeing mineral processing plant and construction of mine site infrastructureStrong business acumen and commercially mindedEffective written and verbal communication skills across diverse stakeholder groupsAbility to work independently and take initiative within a dynamic project environmentAbility and willingness to travel to Tanzania on an ad hoc basisDesiredPrevious experience working on African mining projects (West or East Africa preferred)Experience with EPCM delivery models and contractor oversightUnderstanding of project permitting, approvals, and stakeholder engagement processesFrench and/or Swahili language skills are advantageous but not essentialIt is a requirement you have a bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline with 5 - 10 years post trade.
