Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance Laboratory to provide expert analytical and sensory evaluation services on samples submitted to the LCBO’s Quality Assurance Department. You will ensure accurate and valid analysis and consistency with our product testing standards, ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 requirements and client expectations.

If you possess extremely sound problem solving and judgment skills and rely on your impeccable analytical skills to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment, this is the role for you!About The RoleBe a project leader in analytical method development and validation, including development of methods for sensory markers by carrying out new method development projects, conducting method validation studies including statistical analysis of method validation parameters and writing complete analytical method Standard Operation ProceduresLead research projects on quality of beverage alcohol utilizing analysis of sensory and chemical parametersProvide expert analytical services on samples submitted to LCBO QA Laboratory in accordance with laboratory Quality Management System policies and procedures Design, validate and implement sensory evaluation methodologies to support sensory testing programs, research and development projects and ad-hoc tastings based on sound statistical practices and internationally accepted modelsAbout YouA M.

or degree or higher in chemistry, food science, oenology or related science, with significant experience in analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experienceExcellent knowledge of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis demonstrated in one or more of the areas of GC-MSD, GC-FID, HPLC-PDA, HPLC-FD, LC-MS, ICP-MS and Continuous Flow Systems, and expertise in sample preparation, extraction, purification/isolation and analysisDemonstrated method development and validation including statistical analysis of method validation parameters, and writing analytical method SOPsKnowledge of and/or experience in application of sensory evaluation methods for analysis of beverage alcohol or food productsDemonstrated ability to perform sensory evaluation on various types of beverage alcohol products or food productsDemonstrated experience in statistical analysis of sensory and analytical data e.

g. hypothesis testing, ANOVA, control charting, etc. Several years’ experience in the set-up, trouble shooting and repair of laboratory instrumentation and related software. Advanced knowledge of computer software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPointExperience in Laboratory Information Management Systems/chain of custody procedureFamiliarity with sensory evaluation data collection and analysis software is an asset. Excellent oral and written communication, technical writing and presentation skillsDemonstrated work ethics, well-developed interpersonal, leadership and team building skillsApplied knowledge of Quality Management systems in accordance to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
