Our Institutional Bank provides specialised financial services to both the public sector and New Zealand’s largest companies across NZ. You’ll work alongside the teams delivering innovative financial solutions and insights to our most complex and high-profile clients, across various sectors. ?We are offering a permanent graduate position on a tailored programme which has been designed with future leaders in mind. Our current programme is based in Auckland and will run for approximately 12 months.
You’ll start with us as a permanent employee in February 2026 on an immersive orientation which will help grow your understanding of Westpac NZ along with the wider grad cohort. At the end of your programme, you’ll be supported to find a suitable role that matches your capabilities and interests within your business area. Throughout The ProgrammeWe’ll provide loads of learning and support to help you make the most of the experience. You’ll receive lots of opportunities for learning and growth that will optimise your role performance and career progression.
Institutional banking Champions, leaders and mentors will support you during the programme experience. The programme is structured to help you identify your focus areas and tailored training sessions will build and strengthen your technical and soft skills - accelerating your personal and professional career development. Expect to be able to give back, you can join numerous communities, volunteering and sustainability initiatives rounding out your whole work life experience.
To help you to learn about different parts of your business area you’ll complete three rotations while on the programme across the various teams that make up our Institutional, Corporate Structured Finance and Global Transactional Banking teams. It’s packed full of different roles, teams and project experiences. The Day To DayWorking closely with the Relationship Managers, Product, Analyst and Transactional Banking teams, you will learn to prepare credit submissions and provide industry and analytical expertise and work closely with customers within Institutional Banking and Transactional Banking and play a key role in helping Westpac win in market.
You will work across Global Transactional Services (GTS) which provides specialist advice and support on a range of domestic and international products and services. This includes inward and outward payments, cash management/operational cash and credit cards solutions, to meet the needs of customers with complex banking requirements. You will also have the opportunity to work in Corporate and Structured Finance (“CSF”). CSF is a market leading team of product specialists providing bespoke financing solutions across project finance, acquisition and leverage finance, asset finance , securitisation and corporate advisory.
?u P?kenga | About YouTo be eligible, you must be in your final year of study or have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the past 12 months. Our Graduate opportunities are entry level roles giving those on the programme broad exposure across the relevant business unit. Additionally, applicants must be New Zealand or Australian citizens or permanent residents. An opportunity exists for an original thinker and innovator. We welcome graduates from Bachelor’s degree in STEM, Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business Management who are passionate about enabling customer success.
Experience in financial analysis, accounting or businessAbility to recognise areas of opportunity, to adapt and innovate, with a focus on driving productivity and continuous improvement.
