Role description: We are seeking an accomplished and strategic VP of Liquidity to lead and expand our eFX liquidity management capabilities across APAC.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring optimal liquidity provision, managing relationships with top-tier liquidity providers and prime brokers, driving innovation in our liquidity strategies, and representing the business externally. This role is ideally suited for a senior liquidity professional with deep experience in the financial services industry, particularly in eFX, liquidity management, and prime brokerage. **This job posting is intended for candidates based in Sydney, Australia only. Liquidity Strategy & ManagementLead all aspects of eFX liquidity management, including sourcing, optimizing, and monitoring liquidity from multiple banks and non-bank liquidity providers. Develop and execute a liquidity strategy aligned with business objectives, ensuring high-quality pricing and execution. Monitor market conditions, spreads, and flow characteristics to optimize liquidity pools and minimize risk. Handle B2B business relationships, ensuring consistent service levels and high-quality liquidity for institutional clients. Identify potentially abusive or hostile trading behaviors from clients (e. g. , latency arbitrage, toxic flow, manipulative patterns) and take appropriate actions instantly to mitigate risk and protect the business.
Prime Brokerage OversightOversee all prime brokerage relationships, negotiating terms, managing credit lines, and ensuring operational efficiency. Coordinate with Operations, Risk, and Finance teams to align PB workflows and collateral management. Collaboration & Stakeholder ManagementWork closely with internal teams including Quant, Sales, Risk, Integration, and Technology to design, deliver, and improve liquidity solutions. Collaborate with the Integration team to handle new pricing streams, platform integrations, and client FIX onboarding processes. Serve as the senior point of contact for all liquidity-related counterparties and major institutional clients. Build and maintain strong partnerships with banks, non-bank liquidity providers, ECNs, and prime brokers.
Risk Management & ComplianceDrive effective liquidity risk monitoring frameworks, ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal risk appetite thresholds. Collaborate with the Risk and Compliance teams to implement robust controls and reporting. Technology & Data AnalyticsUse Python, SQL, and basic coding skills to retrieve, analyze, and interpret historical price ticks and other liquidity data from internal databases. Identify and implement enhancements to liquidity infrastructure, analytics, and connectivity. External Representation & Media EngagementRepresent the business in media interviews, industry conferences, and financial expos as a thought leader in liquidity and eFX markets. Promote the company’s liquidity offering to prospects and institutional partners.
Leadership & Continuous ImprovementLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing liquidity team. Stay ahead of industry trends and evolving market structures in eFX and electronic liquidity provision. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Qualifications: Minimum 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, with at least 10 years in liquidity management roles across leading banks, liquidity providers, or electronic trading firms. Proven track record managing relationships with diverse liquidity providers, prime brokers, and institutional clients. Deep prime brokerage knowledge, including experience negotiating agreements, managing credit, and overseeing collateral processes.
Demonstrated experience handling B2B relationships and delivering liquidity solutions to institutional clients. Strong understanding of eFX market structure, trading workflows, and technology platforms. Technical proficiency in Python, SQL, and basic coding to extract and analyze historical price data. Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex liquidity data. Strong capability to quickly recognize abusive or manipulative trading patterns and implement real-time countermeasures. Experience representing an organization in external forums such as financial expos, conferences, or media engagements. Highly collaborative, with a leadership style that fosters teamwork across Quant, Sales, Risk, and Technology functions.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related discipline; postgraduate qualifications (e. g. , CFA, MBA) are a plus. Experience leading liquidity management teams across multi-jurisdictional environments (especially Asia-Pacific).
