Elderly, widows, and disabled to receive monthly pension under different schemes; Process explained here

New Delhi: To help people living below the poverty line (BPL) the government has launched five different pension schemes under the National Social Assistance Program (NSAP). The NSAP is a fully centrally funded scheme that applies to both rural and urban areas. It is administered by the Ministry of Rural Development. This programme includes schemes such as the elderly pension widow pension disability pension family assistance and Annapurna. Annapurna provides free food grains to elderly people who are eligible for the old-age pension scheme but are not receiving a pension. Currently these five schemes are running under the NSAP: Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) Annapurna Yojana Key Points of NSAP Schemes Beneficiaries are identified by the Gram Panchayat and Municipality. Pensions are mostly sent through DBT i.e. directly to a bank or post office account. Cash delivery at home is also permitted if needed. Fill in your basic information select a payment method upload a photo and submit. What is the purpose of these five schemes? Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension (IGNOAPS): Pension is provided to senior citizens aged 60 years and above who belong to BPL families. For 60 to 79 years Rs 200 per month is provided and for 80 years and above Rs 500 per month is provided. Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension (IGNWPS): Widows aged 40 to 79 who belong to BPL families receive Rs 300 per month; those above 80 years receive Rs 500 per month. Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension (IGNDPS): BPL individuals aged 18 to 79 with severe or multiple disabilities receive Rs 300 per month; those above 80 years receive Rs 500 per month. National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS): If the earning member of a BPL family (18 to 59 years) dies the family is given a lump sum assistance of Rs 20000. Annapurna Scheme: Elderly people who are eligible for IGNOAPS but do not receive a pension are given 10 kg of free grain every month.
