"Fantastic evolution of the LIV Golf product" - Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and other stars back 72-hole format change

LIV Golf has announced some exciting new changes to its format as it heads into its fifth season. With the players having been participating in 54-hole competitions since 2022, the league will now have all its events played in the traditional 72-hole format.Bryson DeChambeau recognized the Saudi-based league's efforts to align with golf's traditional format while also praising it for its receptiveness to the feedback of the players and fans alike. The two-time Major championship winner said (via LIV Golf):"Everyone wants to see the best players in the world competing against each other, especially in the majors, and for the good of the game, we need a path forward. By moving to 72 holes, LIV Golf is taking a proactive step to align with the historic format recognized globally. This is a fantastic evolution of the LIV Golf product, showing how our League listens and adapts to create the best possible experience.”Stating that LIV Golf is a 'player's league,' Jon Rahm called the move a massive 'win' for his fellow competitors and fans alike. The two-time reigning Individual CHampion of the league affirmed that the 71-hole format would increase competition in the league while making it more entertaining for the spectators to watch.Rahm said (via LIV Golf):"This is a win for the League and the players. LIV Golf is a player’s league. We are competitors to the core, and we want every opportunity to compete at the highest level and to perfect our craft. Moving to 72 holes is the logical next step that strengthens the competition, tests us more fully, and if the growing galleries from last season are any indication, delivers more of what the fans want.”Dustin Johnson supported Rahm and DeChambeau in their words. The 24-time PGA Tour winner stated that he missed playing tournaments that consisted of 72 holes of competition. He said (via LIV Golf):"I think it’s a great move for the League, and I’m excited for it. Playing 72 holes just feels a little more like the big tournaments we’ve all grown up playing. I’ve always liked the grind of four rounds – it gives the best players a chance to rise to the top. LIV Golf has been a great experience from the start, and I think this makes it even better for the fans and for us out there competing."While all of the league's regular-season tournaments will be played in the 72-hole format, the format for the Team Championship remains undecided and will be announced on a later date.2026 LIV Golf ScheduleHere's a look at the schedule for the upcoming LIV Golf season:Feb 05 - 07: Riyadh, Riyadh Golf ClubFeb 13 - 15: Adelaide, The Grange Golf ClubMar 06 - 08: Hong Kong, Hong Kong Golf Club at FanlingMar 13 - 15: Singapore, Sentosa Golf ClubMar 20 - 22: South Africa, The Club at Steyn CityApr 17 - 19: Mexico City, Club de Golf ChapultepecMay 08 - 10: Virginia, Trump National DCJun 05 - 07: Andalucia, Real Club ValderramaJun 26 - 28: Louisiana, Bayou Oaks at City ParkJul 24 - 26: UK, JCK Golf & Country ClubAug 21 - 23: Indianapolis, The Club at Chatham Hills
