Lakers’ Bronny James Gets Brutal Reality Check From Former Top Pick
The Los Angeles Lakers are enduring a rough stretch of basketball without their two superstars, LeBron James and Luka Doncic. While their teammate Austin Reaves has been playing his mind out to get the team wins, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Portland Trail Blazers’ performance earlier this week.
While LeBron isn’t part of the lineup until sometime in November, his son, Bronny James, has started to appear in games. However, a recent play against the Blazers came under fire from one of the Lakers’ former players, No. 1 draft pick Kwame Brown.
Brown released a clip featuring scathing remarks in which he ripped Bronny’s defensive issues, calling the son of King James too “soft” on the court. More specifically, he compared him to Charmin toilet paper and even mocked LeBron for coaching his son to avoid contact.
Brown’s criticism of Bronny focused on a first-quarter defensive sequence. With the Lakers up 21-18, the Blazers were setting up for an offensive play in the half-court. Brown mentioned with the play, “Bronny, you should be pointing and talking.”

“This is a brush screen. Bronny, you in a great position to take a charge. This is nothing; this is a charge right here,” Brown claimed.
Brown soon unleashed his brutal review of Bronny when he moved aside to allow the driving player an easier path to the basket.
“Bronny, where the hell is you goin?” he asked, adding, “See this what happens when a kid has the golden ticket. I’m gonna dub Bronny the golden ticket. This boy don’t wanna be touched. Charmin tissue soft.”

Brown said that it’s Bronny’s second year in the league, and he should be able to withstand that kind of contact as a younger player, drawing charges and helping his team.
“What the hell are you sliding out of the way of the contact, don’t you know this is basketball?” Brown asked.
The former Lakers player didn’t hesitate to bring LeBron into the conversation, mocking Bronny’s father and making remarks as if he were having a father-son chat.
“Mind the game. This is how you mind the game. Bronny, mind your damn business, get out the way. Mind your business, Bronny. Don’t get hurt. Get that money, boy,” Brown said in a fake, deep voice as if he were LeBron.
Despite 41 points from Raves, the Lakers fell to the Blazers at home 122-108. Bronny played 20 minutes off the bench and finished with no points after missing both shots he took. To his credit, he filled out the rest of his stat sheet with a block, a steal, three rebounds, three assists, three fouls, and three turnovers.

In addition to missing LeBron and Luka for a significant stretch, the Lakers are also without guards Marcus Smart and Gabe Vincent, as well as forwards Maxi Kleiber and Adou Thiero. Due to that, coach JJ Redick is relying on every available player, including the still-in-development Bronny James.
Some consider Kwame Brown a major NBA bust after going No. 1 overall to the Washington Wizards and playing for multiple teams, including the Lakers. Bronny gets another chance to impress him when he plays against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
