Lauren Egerton on her golden fashion rule and the one item every woman needs
Influencer Lauren Egerton is known for her impeccable style, whether that's her hairdo, makeup choices or outfits.
We chat to the Mullingar influencer about her fashion advice, her favourite place to shop and the most stylish place she's visited.
What's her go-to item in her wardrobe? "Without a doubt it’s a blazer. I always say when in doubt throw on a blazer and you will look like you’ve got your life together. It’s my secret weapon. Whether I’m dressing it up with heels or throwing it over a top and a pair of jeans, it instantly pulls everything together. It’s classic, reliable and a bit bossy – a bit like myself."
Her favourite place to shop is Dunnes Stores. "It’s the only place you pop into for a carton of milk and come out with a gorgeous new outfit. They are brilliant at keeping up with new trends without making you feel like you are trying too hard. It’s stylish, affordable and there’s always a hidden gem waiting to be found. It’s fashion that fits into real life and you don’t need to be a fashion expert to find what you love there."
A trend she can’t get on board with is the micro bag trend. "The one thing I can’t get my head around is those teenie tiny handbags that you can barely fit a lipstick into. Personally, if I can’t fit my phone, keys, lip gloss and at least one emergency snack – it’s a no for me."
Her style inspiration is her mother. "Without a doubt. She never follows trends, she just wears what makes her feel good. She has a real love for colour and patterns and she wears them so naturally. No matter where she’s going, even if it is only in to town for a few messages, she will make an effort, not to impress anyone but because she believes in showing up for herself. Her style isn’t just about clothes, it’s about joy, pride and a kind of grace you just can’t buy."
Her golden fashion rule is to wear what makes you feel good, not just what’s in style. "Trends come and go, but if you feel like yourself in an outfit, it will always look right. Comfort is key, too. If you’re not comfortable, it shows on your face I think. So finding something that makes you feel relaxed and fully yourself, that’s what real style is about."
What about her handbag essentials? "A good nude lip liner, my Clarins Lip Perfector gloss, a trustworthy powder for touch ups and another secret weapon – the smoothing brush from The Belle Brush. If I’ve got those with me I can handle anything (or at least I look like I can!)."
Her best bargain buy is a beautiful pair of black heels from Zara. [I got them] seven years ago on sale for a bargain. I still have them to this day. They are by far my favourite pair of heels and they go with everything in my wardrobe."
The most stylish place she has visited is the south of France, such as Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez. "I travel there often and I’m always inspired by the effortless elegance everywhere you look. The fashion has this beautiful mix of polish and ease – like they just threw it on and still look perfect. I could spend hours people watching."
