Western Australia is leading the nation in economic performance for the fourth quarter in a row, according to the CommSec State of the States’ report, released today. The west ranks number one for three out of the eight categories measured, including retail spending, housing finance and equipment spending. The value of home loans rose 42.4 per cent on the long-term decade average. WA also recorded the fasted absolute annual population growth, up 2.39 per cent from the last quarter. “Resources-focused Western Australia has the strongest annual economic momentum, consolidating its first position, supported by robust private sector activity and population growth,” the report said.
